Supporting pharmacy workforce wellbeing: Why your voice matters

By Danielle Hunt, CE Pharmacist Support – the profession’s independent charityDanielle Hunt

As part of our commitment to championing the wellbeing of our pharmacy family, we are joining forces with the RPS and APTUK for this year’s Workforce Wellbeing Survey. This survey, open to pharmacists, pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians across GB, is your chance to help us understand the pressures you're facing and identify any gaps in support. Your input is vital to ensure we can continue to respond effectively to the growing challenges in the sector.

Over the past year, we’ve seen a sharp increase in demand for support, particularly for mental health and peer support services. Our peer support scheme has been a lifeline for many pharmacists, offering them a safe space to connect with colleagues who understand the unique pressures of the profession. Additionally, our counselling service continues to experience high demand, highlighting the urgent need for mental health support.

Informed by previous surveys and to meet these demands, we’re developing new initiatives, such as our "Embracing a Workplace Wellbeing Culture" course, designed to help create healthier, more supportive work environments. It also informs our ACTNow wellbeing campaign, which encourages pharmacists to take proactive steps in managing their wellbeing, supported by tools and resources that empower them to thrive. This year’s campaign themes focus on workplace culture, loneliness, and physical health. I encourage you to sign up and get involved.

By participating in the Workforce Wellbeing Survey, you’ll be helping us ensure that the support we offer is tailored to your needs and that we can continue to raise awareness of the issues impacting the sector. The results will guide future service developments and provide insight into how the sector can better support you.

Now is the time to make your voice heard. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier pharmacy profession.

Fill out the survey by Tuesday 12th November.
