The recent country Board meetings held across England, Scotland and Wales brought together pharmacy leaders to discuss key policy priorities for the profession and pharmacy practice.
You can find out more about the themes discussed at the meetings in The Pharmaceutical Journal’s report.
A highlight of the English Pharmacy Board meeting was the visit from David Webb, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for England, and Liz Fidler, Senior Professional Advisor for Pharmacy Technician Practice at NHS England.
David Webb shared his reflections on the evolving role of the pharmacy profession:
“It was great to speak at the English Pharmacy Board about the key role of pharmacists and the whole pharmacy team in delivering the 10-Year Health Plan. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the RPS, as it becomes the Royal College of Pharmacy, to ensure the profession is supported and ready for the future.”
Liz Fidler also joined the meeting to discuss the expanding scope of practice for pharmacy technicians. She said:
“Expanding the scope of practice of pharmacy technicians as registered healthcare professionals supports pharmacists and pharmacy teams collaboratively to deliver the best care for patients. The discussion with Board members provided an excellent opportunity to explore how we can continue to work in partnership to develop and support the whole pharmacy team.”
Board meetings in England, Scotland and Wales are a platform for the development of professional leadership, advocacy and support for pharmacy practice.
