RPS Charter Award presented to Ade Williams MBE

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is proud to announce that Adeyemi (Ade) Williams MBE, FRPharmS is the latest recipient of our Charter Award, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to pharmacy and patient care.

Ade (centre) received the award from RPS RPS President Professor Claire Anderson (left) and RPS Chief Executive Paul Bennett (right) during the RPS Board Day at the DoubleTree Cadbury House Hotel in Bristol on Tuesday 18 June.

As the Director and Superintendent Pharmacist of M J Williams Pharmacy Group in Bristol and Lead Prescribing Pharmacist at the multi-award-winning Bedminster Pharmacy, Williams has consistently demonstrated pharmacy’s role in providing comprehensive and affordable healthcare solutions for the community.

Ade's contribution to pharmacy and patient care extends far beyond his role at Bedminster Pharmacy. Awarded an MBE in 2022 for service to the NHS, he is an RPS Fellow and was named an NHS Vaccine Hero for his work promoting access and increasing uptake to vaccinations. His innovative practice has earned him the title of the profession's Patient Champion. A prescribing pharmacist, he is part of the Clinical Team at the Broadmead Medical Practice and has recently been appointed as a Trustee of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Ade also frequently speaks to national and regional media, helping to explain the important role of pharmacists in patient care.

RPS CEO Paul Bennett, said: “We are proud to announce Ade Williams MBE as the latest recipient of the Charter Award. Ade’s outstanding contributions to both the RPS and the wider pharmacy profession exemplify the highest standards of commitment to improving pharmacy practice and patient care. We congratulate Ade on this well-deserved award and look forward to seeing his continued impact on the pharmacy profession.”

RPS President, Professor Claire Anderson, said: “Ade’s hard work and dedication have made a big difference in patient care and public health. Ade’s efforts in promoting vaccination access and supporting the community during challenging times highlight his commitment to the profession. It is a privilege to present the Charter award to Ade and I congratulate him on this and all of his achievements.”

Ade Williams, MBE, said: “Receiving the RPS Charter Award is profoundly humbling. My first college tutor, Caroline Cook, a pharmacist, instilled in me the importance of 'seeing people', a lesson Jess, my pharmacist wife, defined by her example.

“I am privileged that the Pharmacy profession allows us to embody such transformative values unapologetically. Liberating people from ill health and social injustice, not only enhances dignity and quality of life but also sows seeds of Hope. The trust and confidence the public places in pharmacy teams inspire us, especially me, to strive daily to make a difference within and beyond the confines of pharmacy premises.

“I am deeply grateful for the goodwill, generosity, and encouragement of so many who have enabled me in this pursuit. However, I owe an irredeemable debt to all community pharmacy colleagues, especially my team at Bedminster Pharmacy. Our collective dedication and sacrifice frame Pharmacy's narrative as stalwarts of the NHS and garners the deep affection in the many communities who have adopted us into their hearts.

“I want to also express my gratitude to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Your invaluable work, representation, advocacy, and support have been the bedrock enabling the expansive professional development that remains most instrumental in the success of our collective journey.”
