Our general election manifesto highlights key issues facing the next Government after the election on July 4th.
We need your help to ask local candidates to show their support for pharmacy and ensure they understand and recognise the vital role that pharmacists play in supporting people’s health. Health policy is devolved across the three nations. Our teams will be working hard to influence government policy on a variety of asks, including:
- Secure patient access to medicines
- Support a better-connected NHS
- Enhance accessible prescribing in local communities
- Maximise health improvement through locally accessible pharmacy teams
- Support the workforce to deliver patient care
- Unlock the potential of new advances in medicines
- Support the UK’s global position in science and research
How can you help?
- Find out who your local constituency candidates are, send them a copy of our general election manifesto, and ask them to show their support for the profession.
- Ask candidates to voice their support for pharmacy on social media using the hashtag #VotePharmacy.
- Invite candidates to see where you work, take a photo, and show them first-hand how pharmacists make a real difference to their constituents’ health.
- Share our manifesto asks on social media, using the graphics on this page.
RPS President Professor Claire Anderson said:
“With the health service under continued strain, pharmacists and their teams are working incredibly hard to maintain patient access to care amid workforce challenges, medicines shortages and financial pressures.
“But there are also opportunities, including through the growing number of pharmacist prescribers, expanding clinical trials, delivering care closer to home, and making the most of new advances in medicines.
“The future of our health service is a key election issue and I would urge members to engage with local candidates so pharmacy continues to be part of the debate.”
